Wow…what a fantastic time we are living in!   We are closing out a World Age, beginning The Year of the Dragon, and all this is happening in The Age of Aquarius!  (Any more excitement and we’d likely all vaporize!)  Lori & I explored these topics in our recent Chai Chat show — listen & enjoy!

January 23rd marks the official start of The Year of the Dragon!  It’s the only mythical “animal” in the Chinese zodiac!  It is a dramatic time, a time to think big!  The more spectacular, the more unusual, and the more bizarre, the better the chances of success!  Taking place every 12 years, the Year of the Dragon is “lucky” as the Chinese Dragon is looked upon as the ultimate symbol of good fortune.  The Dragon is also a symbol of divine protection and vigilance.  Dragons are referred to as a divine mythical creature that brings with it ultimate abundance, prosperity, and good fortune.

So this is the year to take off your emergency brake!  Unpack your boa and spikey heels!  Get a new do (hair, that is!) and cast your caution to the wind!  The currents of cosmic support are beneath you and support is all around you (especially your Tribe!)   No matter what Chinese animal sign you were born into, this is YOUR YEAR!  And for you Dragons….woooohooo for youuuu!

We are also in the astrological Age of Aquarius.  Each age lasts approximately 2,150 years.  The transition between ages lasts about 280 years.  It is said that the keyword for Aquarius is Enlightenmnent!  The destiny of humankind in the Age of Aquarius is the revelation of truth and the expansion of consciousness.

Author Ray Grasse, in  his book Signs of the Times, suggests that if you want help navigating through the Age of Aquarius, you should leave room for silence in your life (preferably involving a connection to the Absolute), and resist the deadening of your world.  So instead of filling your life with manufactured goods or artificiality, bring living organic things into your life.  Furthermore you need to maintain a compassionate heart; be involved in a network or group; become more self-reliant; avoid being hypnotized by the “group trance,” and take control of your everyday attitudes (i.e. do not depend upon external events for your inner fulfillment).

So is our Tribe right on time, or what???!!  How totally in divine alignment we are!  And our invitation is to each of YOU.  Re-read the passage above, close your eyes, breathe deeply, and imagine how you can move closer into alignment with the current cosmic energies.  After all, having the wind in your sails sure beats swimming upstream!

Knowing Love

February 9th, 2011

The month of February connotes Valentine’s Day, which turns our thoughts to the topic of “love.”  But what is love?  Is it a feeling?  A force?  Is it God?  Is it all there is?  Trying to define “love” is like trying to define “infinity.”  How do words come remotely close to capturing either?

If we use the concept so freely, I suggerst that we get honest and real with it.  I find that we may know love best by knowing what it is not.  By contrast, that is.  We instinctively know when we are not feeling or behaving in a loving way.  And perhaps, even more so, we know when someone else is not being loving toward us.  At its best, this process of noticing helps us to tune ourselves up.

In “love relationships” it gets even more murky.  What so often passes for love is actually obsession or addiction.  Do you really love that person, or do you need them?  Love is unconditional.  Anything else is an imposter.  To love is to embrace without clutching, to give versus to barter, and to allow instead of to control.

This is how we get real with love.  Sound like a tall order?  While it is not easy, it is possible, at least in glimpses anyway.  And the key is self-reverence.  To value oneself is to value others.  To like oneself is to accept others as they are.  To trust oneself is to allow others to be as they are.  A strong and steady loving relationship with oneself opens the gateway for loving relationships with others and with all of life.

So on Valentine’s Day and all other days, get real with love.  Practice awareness of love, and cultivate the relationship with Self that is the fertile soil within which love can grow.  You do not need to define love when you are able to live it.  You will just know.  From my heart to yours, Happy Valentine’s (every)Day!

Recently a headline in my local newspaper caught my eye.  It read, “Trend toward ‘spiritual, not religious’ worries professor.”  The article describes serious concerns of Linda Mercadante, a Worthington resident and professor of theology that negative societal changes will result from the growing trend of those saying they are “spiritual” but not “religious.”  She states that recent studies have shown that at least 25 percent of the population fall into this category (spiritual, but not religious or SNBR), and that she herself used to as well.  She says repercussions may be a decline in moral values and structure, as well as social services, such as networking.  Mercadante says this should be a “wake-up call for religions” to actually practice what they really believe.

I found this article to be fascinating in light of “the shift.”  As I have referred to in my former blog posts, we are rising to a new order of ourselves as human beings.  And part of this dimensional shift in consciousness includes changes that I believe explain the growing numbers of those identifying as SBNR.  These changes include:  greater intuitive discernment, decreased self-centeredness and separation, non-judgement and more forgiveness, unconditional love and less attachment, non-duality (ex., good/bad).

All the world’s religions are based in the same core spiritual premises, namely the oneness of existence and the essence of love as the core of all creation.  However thousands of years of human interpretation have rendered this core essense unidentifiable as the various faiths have differentiated along ego-based lines to exercise control over their religious members and to discredit other religions.  What began as a love based core premise has turned into a fear based system of religious competition and control.  History readily displays the utter destruction and devastation that this path has rendered.

The spiritual path of fourth dimensional consciousness invites us to see sameness instead of difference.  It invites inclusion versus exclusion.  It reminds us that our intuition is our direct connection to Divinity, and that no interpreter, bridge or tour guide is needed.  Indeed the most metaphysical and powerfully spiritual writings were edited out of the Christian bible in the fourth century A.D.  (For further info, read The Isaiah Effect, by Gregg Braden.)

I want Linda Mercadante to know that all is well and that there is certainly no need to worry about the state of spiritual affairs.  In fact, I will invite her to read this blog post and to consider that what she notices with concern is clear evidence of the shift of human consciousness beyond categories and divisions, and into the holistic and loving understanding that we all seek, and ironically, that all the world religions were founded upon.
