Hope everyone here in central Ohio is truly enjoying the first glimpses of Spring! My daffodils and hyacinths are blooming and so beautiful to see! I love Spring!!! I’m sitting here with the windows open and wanting to share some reflections about a movie I saw this weekend.
The Moses Code is the latest offering from the Spiritual Cinema genre and it debuted here this past weekend at the Columbus Center for Spiritual Living. The central premise of the movie was the story of Moses and the burning bush. Moses received a sacred transmission from God through the image of a bush that was in flames but did not burn. The message was “I Am That I Am.” The movie proposes that the Moses Code is understood by inserting a comma (”I Am That, I Am.”) underscoring that God is in everything that exists. While I feel that the movie was well done and offered some good clips of various spiritual and metaphysical celebreties, the two conventions used in the movie (the comma, and the acronym for GOD) were weak. Moreover, one should not mess with sacred transmissions. That’s how most of the world’s religions have lost their way. Plus, what about languages that do not use commas?
Frankly, I was surprised to learn that Neale Donld Walsh never understood these sacred words until inserting the comma (and he’s had so very many “conversations with God”). Spiritual transmissions are sacred vibrations. They are offered and we are to find alignment with them. They are not to be tampered with so as to fit with our human limitations in aligning with them.
The acronym which was offered (Giving, Oneness, Destiny), while weak, proved to be a vehicle for some powerful testimony by some of the guest speakers. The one man whose story told of his experience at ground zero during 911, was compelling and truly beautiful.
All in all, I believe that this movie is certainly worth the watch. The score was great and the production superb. I believe that we must be careful to meet sacredness and mysticism where it lives…..in the mystery.
As always, I welcome your comments and discussion! See you at our next event, Sunday 4/13, 4-6pm at Alphastate Studios, “Special Topic Seminar” on PROSPERITY & ABUNDANCE! (And who couldn’t use a bit more of that two days before the tax deadline!)
