Connecting the Dots

“THOUGHTS…..BECOME…..THINGS.” (from the movie, “The Secret”) These three simple words explain how life works. Really. How many of us have heard or learned some version of this powerful teaching? Yet how oblivious to it’s truth are we as we enact our lives?

This truth is the very powerful “Law of Attraction”. It governs all of life including the cosmos — all that exists, both seen and unseen. (By the way, did you know that only about 4% of all there is can be perceived? The rest consists of 73% dark energy and 23% dark matter — that is unable to be experienced by our five senses.)

You likely have a working knowledge of and healthy respect for the Law of Gravity. This law taught itself to you the first time you fell as a baby and continued to make itself known as you learned to stay upright on your bike as a child. You respect it and take it for granted as you go about navigating through your world.

A far greater, but more subtle law, is the Law of Attraction. This central operating principle of life simply stated is this: “That which is likened to itself is drawn.” That is, you manifest exactly what you focus on. Fortunately, this law is not so immediate as the Law of Gravity. The good news about this “buffer of time” in the Law of Attraction is that if you have a negative thought, something negative will not immediately manifest. It takes a continued focus, both mental and emotional, to eventually physically manifest the thought. Also, there is more good news in that a positive thought far outweighs a negative one in the power of manifestation. The drawback to this “buffer of time” is that people are unaware of the powerful presence of this law — they fail to connect the dots!

You will often hear people state things like, “It came out of the blue!” or “That was totally unexpected!” If they had been connecting the dots, everything would make perfect sense. You must give consistent attention to your points of focus. Are they positive, good-feeling thoughts? Or are they negative, bad-feeling thoughts? Are you supportive & nurturing in your self-talk and behaviors, or self-critical & self-shaming? Do you comfort or worry yourself? You wouldn’t drive your car without attention to the road and hands on the wheel steering you at all times — why do you let your thoughts haphazardly drive you towards unwanted outcomes? Is the direction you drive your life as important as the direction you drive your car? I hope so.

This isn’t hard to do. But you must make a key decision. You must care about how you feel. And you must choose always to feel good — no matter what. It is the crucial combination of positive thoughts + positive feelings that leads to the creation and manifestation of life’s dreams and desires.

So start connecting the dots in your life. See where you are steering yourself and know that you have ultimate choice in the matter. There are no victims. The Law of Attraction is not personal and makes no moral choices. We are doing the driving. Just connect the dots and see for yourself.
